AMANDA RECEIVES THE 2015 DR MARTIN LUTHER KING JR COMMUNITY AWARD

I'm so excited about the opportunity to receive the prestigious Martin Luther King Junior Community Hero award. The Cultivating Leaders Achieving Scholastic Success organization awarded 5 recipients in the DFW area for the service to the community.
The organization is co-sponsored by Dayspring Family Church in Irving, and the money raised will help 18 High School seniors receive scholarship money for college.
The annual breakfast was held at their church in Irving, Texas.
As the Martin Luther King Jr. holiday and recognition celebrations approach many schools, organizations and communities I was truly honored to be recognized as someone who embodies Dr. Martin Luther King Jr's legacy.
While speaking at the event I was a little emotional as I reflected on the many times I faced challenges in my career, and how my faith kept me going to receive bigger and better.
Congrats to the other recipients, Former Dallas County District Attorney, Craig Watkins, Physician Assistant, Freda Murray, Pastor Larry Mouton, Irving Cares Director, Teddie Story.

So excited, I was nominated on September 15, 2014 for my 3rd EMMY!!!!
The Lone Star Chapter of the National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences recognized my work and honored me with a nomination for the prestigious honor. Although I didn't win this year, it was still an honor to be recognized by my peers in the Lone Star State! After losing a brother during a military training exercise, the chance to tell the story of a navy veteran honoring the men and women who died during war was especially important. Special Thanks to Joel Fernandez for the idea and shooting the video, and Bill Caruthers for great editing! Check VIDEO: |
