Amanda has been nominated by the National Association of Black Journalists for the 2013 Salute to Excellence in Reporting award. Their national media awards recognize exemplary work in coverage of the African-American community. The event is in conjunction with the 2013 NABJ Convention and Career Fair, the nation’s largest gathering of black journalists in print, broadcast, online and photojournalism. The black-tie gala will take place on Saturday, August 3, 2013 at the Gaylord Palms & Resort, in Orlando, Florida which will include dinner and recognition of the 2013 Special Honors recipients.You can view a listing of all of the 2013 Salute to Excellence finalists at https://nabj.site-ym.com/?page=STEFINALISTS2013. The guys over at baD Radio on 1310 The Ticket gave me a hard time today!  Sooooo I went to interview Donovan, whom I met at career day a few months ago, anyway...I called him to see if he could talk about the Dallas Cowboys being named as one of the most valuable sports teams in the World and after two great interviews I was sucked into the show but none other than Dan!  Which would have been great, if he hadn't called me by the name of another Black News Anchor in the market!  I know it was a joke but let's just say I don't take any jabs without giving them back, so it was a fun conversation.  Check out some of the audio later, I plan to post what I can.. meanwhile here's my photo of my big debut on Sports Talk Radion!

 The House of Renewed Hope, developed by Exoneree Christopher Scott, fights for social justice for wrongfully accused individuals in Texas.   SO as someone who comes from a family who fought for Civil Rights, I knew this was one fundraiser I would suport.  The event kicked off at 300Dallas Bowling Alley in Addison.  I invited a few CW interns to come out and volunteer and rub elbows with the City leaders.  We all had the opportunity to volunteer for the fundraiser and have a blast.  It was an intimate event with a live band, and Dallas politicians. One of which I had the recent opportunity to interview- Dallas County Commissioner John Wiley Price. I introduced him to the interns and he was so full of inspiration. Dallas Entertainment Weekly Journal http://dallasentertainmentjournal.com/ had a networking mixer for the ladies in media last night 7/9 at House of Blues@HOBDallas in the foundation room. Loved it! They had a guy playing a led violin, a drummer chick and rapper and it was great! They interviewed me for the mag. and it was cool.  I like the fact that it was a mixed crowd, rockers, professionals, young and old, black, white, and Hispanic. I loved being able to meet new people within the industry. I also ran into Fiona Gorostiza (@Fionafox4) from Fox 4 and my friends Judge candidate Kim Cooks and Dallas Firefighter Wes Williams. And i can't forget my girl Nina Z @NINAZ_ !!
